The establishment of "always-on" digital rights management for Assassin's Creed II has not been met with much favor by the gaming populace, as we've analyzed before. The practice certainly didn't win any fans this weekend, as a select portion of Ubisoft PC game owners were shut out of their games for a six and a half hour period on Sunday due to an attack on the servers.
In a series of twitter messages through its official account, Ubisoft stated that the outage was a result of hackers attacking the company's DRM servers, and that the issues "had the effect of blocking new requests from legitimate users.
