Jeff Hanneman is suffering from a flesh-eating disease called necrotizing fasciitis, a bacterial virus that attacks skin, fat, and body tissue. Sources report that Hanneman became sick after being bitten by a spider.  He is scheduled for surgery to remove an area on his right arm to treat the disease....

Slayer’s Jeff Hanneman has contracted a flesh eating disease – forcing him to pull out of the band’s upcoming tour. 
It is believed that Hanneman caught the necrotizing fasciitis from a spider bite.

Slayer, who are due to play a number of shows this summer are searching for a new guitarist to stand in while Hanneman undergoes surgery. In a statement, guitarist Kerry King said: “After everything that’s happened we all agreed that we just can’t let our fans down again.” “Jeff is totally on board with the decision, so we will tour as planned. We can’t pinpoint what day he’ll be back, but it will be as soon as he possibly can. We can’t wait for him to get better and get his ass back on the road....
