According to the New York Daily News, consumers have camping out since Saturday (February 18), waiting outside a Manhattan Foot Locker, to ensure that they get a pair of the anticipated sneakers. Full View The unforgiving resale market for sneakers became a little more volatile today with a boost from the New York Daily News. Nike's “Galaxy” Air Foamposite One escaped the sneaker blogs and landed on NYDN's cover, applying the kiss of death to any hopes for grabbing these shoes at a reasonable resale price. Despite the $220 box price, pre-release vultures are selling “Galaxy” Foams (see photos of the coveted sneaker here) for as much as $1,600. That price slides down after the shoe releases, but don't expect a substantial drop....

Hundreds of sneakerheads and sneaker traders are sleeping outside in the cold for a chance to buy the $220 shoe on Friday, Feb. 24. The sneakers have a glow-in-the dark sole and purple graphics that are space-themed in recognition of NASA, which is home to the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Fla. It’s also the host city for the 2012 NBA All-Star game. Due to a limited release, the shoes are sold on a first come first serve basis. So to beat out other potential buyers, the most die-hard sneakerheads began camping out in front of shoes stores on Sunday and Monday.
